10 Nike.com Shopping Tips to Help You Save Big

"Just do it" -- the Slickdeals way.

At Slickdeals, we work hard to help you find the best deals. To do this, some of the products featured here are from our partners, who may provide us with compensation. However, this doesn’t influence our opinions. Our views are our own.

Whether you’re a serious sneakerhead or just in the market for a new pair of running shoes, Nike.com is a great destination for some of today’s most popular styles.

Find out how you can get the shoes and apparel you love for less with our favorite Nike shopping tips.

1. Ask Customer Service for a Nike Promo Code.

No Nike.com promo code? No problem. Just contact a customer service representative through the website’s Live Chat to ask for a possible discount. Many of our forum users report scoring coupons for 15% to 20% off just for inquiring!

Don’t forget, the Slickdeals Nike store page always has the most current Nike coupons and information on sitewide sales.

2. Score Free Shipping with a NikePlus Membership

Hate shipping and handling fees? Of course you do, and Nike makes it easy to avoid them altogether with its NikePlus loyalty program. It costs nothing to join, and registering earns you free shipping and free returns within 30 days — no minimum purchase required.

3. Use Kohl’s Cash on Nike Purchases

Nike.com Deals

Nike may be excluded from Kohl’s coupons, but you can still earn and redeem Kohl’s Cash on your Nike purchases. Save up your bonus Kohl’s Cash from previous purchases, and then essentially give yourself a discount on Nike running shoes, workout apparel, or slides.

Kohl’s cardholders can also use any free shipping codes to get Nike items shipped for free (or you can just select in-store pickup instead).

4. Take Advantage of Special Discounts

The store also offers exclusive discounts to U.S. college students and members of the military. Students get 10% off at Nike.com, while military members get 10% off at Nike.com plus 10% off at Nike, Converse, and Hurley Stores nationwide.

The military discount applies to active, veteran, retired and reservist U.S. Army, Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard personnel (as well as spouses and dependents of active personnel). Just confirm your eligibility by completing the store’s online form to receive your Nike.com coupon code, or present a valid ID in-store.

5. Shop in the Kids’ Section.

Nike.com Deals

Shopping in the kids’ section is yet another good way to score cheap Nike shoes if you have a small foot size. For women, this overlap works for adult shoe sizes of 8.5 and under. Just subtract 1.5 from your regular shoe size to convert it to youth sizing (e.g., a woman’s size 7 converts to a youth size 5.5.) For men, youth sizes are the same as regular men’s sizes (e.g., a youth size 7 would fit a man’s size 7.)

To give you an idea of the price difference, the Nike Air Max 1 costs $110 in regular women’s sizing, but is just $85 in youth sizing.

6. Sign up for the Store’s Newsletter

Nike Deals

First things first: If you’re a Nike fan, you’ll definitely want to sign up for the store’s emails. You’ll get special news and offers from the Nike family of brands, including Jordan, Converse and Hurley — and you’ll receive updates on Nike.com sale events, price drops and new shoe collections. Even better, you’ll get an exclusive coupon for your birthday.

7. Shop Nike’s Seasonal Sales.

Nike.com Sales

Nike.com has its fair share of seasonal sales throughout the year. The store recently gave customers an extra 25% off already-reduced sale items (which meant deals like women’s Nike Flyknit sneakers for $48 shipped free of charge). We’ve seen similar sales in the past offering 20% to 25% off, as well as flash sales with limited-time discounts on select shoes and apparel.

The Nike Friends & Family event, which has previously taken place in February and November, gives customers 30% off at Nike factory stores. Of course, there are also holiday sales to look out for, as well. Last year, the store sent out coupons for $20 off $100 right before Christmas.

8. Use Coupons on Nike Clearance Items.

What’s better than sale prices? Sale prices stacked with coupons, that’s what. Nike regularly offers promo codes for an extra 15%, 20% or 25% off sitewide (including their already-reduced clearance section). Since styles and sizes are usually limited, be sure to set a Deal Alert on Slickdeals for up-to-date notifications of any Nike.com clearance sales.

9. Visit the Nike Factory Store.

Nike Factory Store

Attention, outlet shoppers. Nike factory stores are the best places to score amazing deals on everything from running shoes to athletic gear and apparel. Make a beeline for the very back wall (commonly called the “hash wall”) to find some ridiculously good markdowns. Styles and sizes are always limited, but these stores typically have the lowest prices out there. Slickdealer njbandit says, “If you live anywhere near a Nike factory store, they really clear out their shoes. Found ones that fit for under $20.” (Nice!)

Use the Nike store locator to find a location near you.

10. Take advantage of Nike gift card offers.

Another way to stack your savings at Nike.com is by taking advantage of gift card deals. We just saw a Best Buy offer for a free $10 Best Buy gift card with a $50 Nike gift card purchase, and Best Buy recently let you buy one Nike gift card and get a second Nike gift card for 20% off. In January of last year, Newegg gave customers a bonus $10 Nike digital gift card with the purchase of a $50 Nike digital gift card.

Slickdealer stasis also recommends checking out Discover Nike gift card deals, saying it’s a “slick deal if you get Nike gift cards from Discover when they’re discounted 20%.”
