Now that we are stuck in the doldrums between the fun parts of winter and the sweet reprieve of springtime, there are only so many ways to find relief. Some may pick up a hobby, while others may tend to heart and home. As for the rest of us, we are shopping for a discounted 4K TV to warm our souls until the sun comes back.
While most people think of Black Friday as the best time to buy a discount TV, you can actually find a lot of good deals earlier in the year as well. Many TV manufacturers release new models in the Spring (usually around March or April), so this is the ideal time of year to get discounts on 2019 models.
Case in point: there are plenty of good 4K television discounts floating around right now, with sizes ranging from 65″ all the way up to a colossal 85″ screen. Sadly, not even 4K resolution can allow you to experience the warmth of the beach in the TV show you’re watching. It won’t be long now.
Top TV Deals of the Week
There are always plenty of good TV deals on our site, and these are some of our favorites from the past week:
VIZIO P-Series® Quantum X 65” Class 4K HDR Smart TV
On Sale for: $899 | Reg. Price: $1,299 at Sams Club
- UltraBright 3000, VIZIO’s signature lighting system that features up to 3,000 nits of brightness
- 384 local dimming zones
- VIZIO SmartCast 3.0 with Apple AirPlay 2 support and Chromecast
Those who do not have a Sam’s Club membership will need to pay a 10% service fee before checkout. Even so, $990 is still a good price for a Quantum Dot set-up that typically retails from $1,100 to $1,500. If you have a Costco membership, you can access the same price (and avoid having to pay the non-member fee).
Element 70″ Class 4K Roku Smart TV (2019 Model)
On Sale for: $475 | Reg. Price: $798 at Walmart
- DLED back-lit TV with deep blacks and rich colors
- Built-in V-chip parental control
- 10W Dolby Audio internal speakers
Brand purists and OLED patricians might balk at this budget branded DLED TV, but Slickdeals user XDecker had a point when they said $475 for a 70″ HD10 TV with built-in Roku is still a great deal. Based on the reviews from Walmart’s site, this theory seems well-founded. If you are looking for a serviceable large screen with well-rounded features and all of the necessary features expected of a 4K Smart TV, the Element 70″ might be the best move. This is the lowest reported price for this model, so you are also getting the best deal yet.
65″ Vizio M656-G4 Quantum 4K UHD HDR Smart HDTV (2019 Model)
On Sale for: $498 | Reg. Price: $748 at Walmart
- QLED Display
- Works with Apple AirPlay, Chromecast and Smartcast
- Virtual surround sound with DTS Studio Sound II
Yes, this is a QLED TV that costs less than $500. Boasting many features typically seen in models that cost twice as much, how exactly did Vizio and Walmart pull this one off? Many Slickdealers were unsure about the prospect of upgrading their TVs with this stellar deal, as their comparable Vizio models from 2012-2014 were still in great shape. Monroeton suspects the recurrent sales might be a product of the M-Series’ long-standing quality control issue. A small but nontrivial number have proven to be lemons, but it’s still worth taking a chance given Walmart’s 90-day return policy.
65″ Hisense 65H9F 4K UHD HDR Smart TV
- FALD display with Dolby Vision and HDR
- Quantum Dot color volume
- Android TV OS
Slightly less expensive than most other TVs with similar color and resolution specs, the Hisense 65″ Class is a serviceable mid-range TV with a highly rated picture quality. Slickdeals user JMBauer says this model works well as a gaming TV, and reminds Best Buy card members they can buy this TV and get 11% back on the purchase. There are some minor concerns about the quality of the Android OS, but in this day and age these problems can easily be rectified with an inexpensive streaming device like a Fire Stick or a Chromecast.
85″ Class Q70R QLED Smart 4K UHD TV (2019 Model)
On Sale for: $2,999 | Reg. Price: $4,799.99 at Samsung
- Direct Full Array backlighting for black and white enhancement
- Ambient mode
- Quantum Dot color volume
- Intelligent Mode screen adaptation
If you’re ready to install an entire wall of high-definition QLED light in your home, check out the 85″ Class Q70R from Samsung. It has actually dropped another $300 since we featured it earlier in the month, making this one of the best prices we’ve seen.
Foyzur suggests you make sure your room isn’t too bright and sunny before buying this TV, as the anti-reflective screen isn’t the best. The newer model doesn’t seem to have this problem, but a little glare is a small price to pay for a $1,000 discount.
RCA 65″ Class 4K Ultra HD (2160P) HDR Roku Smart LED TV
On Sale for: $399.99 | Reg. Price: $749.99 at Walmart
- Private streaming onto your personal device using Roku
- Cast to TV with smartphone or tablet
- 60Hz refresh rate
Reviewers have commended this TV for its thin physique and ease of setup without drowning in a tangle of wires. Conversely, it tends to suffer from glare when placed in a bright area — a small price to pay for a big-budget 4K TV? Other than that, you can expect access to all of the usual Roku apps, channels and other key functions.
Tips for Getting the Best TV Deals
Compare the specs of your desired TV model to previous iterations. This week’s tip for getting the best TV deal might mean doing a little more research, but it will potentially save you a decent amount of money. Several of the TVs on this list are technically older versions of premiere new releases, but Slickdealers agreed their capabilities were a better value for the reduced price, and in some cases the two TVs are virtually identical.
