Yes I know this is a basic low res thermal imager, but for $90 I'm going to give it a try.. as Amazon has similar for $109.99 . I'm hoping it will give enough detail using the overlay app (similar to FLIR) to find where to insulate , where to stop air leaks and check hot spots all while staying under $100.

For those wanting some more resolution with a little less thermal detection range (degrees not distance) : I see slickdeal for a FLIR android USBC - for $150 deal is still on https://slickdeals.net/f/13728635-flir-one-thermal-imaging-camera-attachment-gen-3-ios-or-android-150-free-shipping?src=SiteSearch Reading that thread - i see there are better resolution options out there that do cost more.

SPECS:
  • IR Image Resolution: 32 x 32 ,1024 pixels
  • Display Screen: 2.4" Full angle HD
  • Thermal Sensitivity:0.15°C
  • Temperature Accuracy: +/- 2 °C or +/- 2 %
  • Visible Image Resolution:0.3 mega pixels Image
  • Capturing Frequency:9 Hz
  • Temperature Range: -20 to 300 °C
  • No Battery Required
  • Android USB Type C connection - with micro USB converter for older phones

Description:
A low cost thermal imager for Android: Compatible cellphones only, includes USB Type C Connection (and micro USB converter). It generates thermal images in daylight or complete darkness

Quick and convenient tool: analyze thermal anomalies immediately before utilizing more sophisticated and powerful imagers. The IR0102 runs from your phones power and does not require batteries

Bridging the gap: take a step into the thermal world and expand your services with a thermal imager that can detect heat variances in all mechanical, electrical component and appliances before the problem manifests into irreparable damage

A powerful thermal unit: safely detect high temperatures from a distance or find a small hidden overheating component. Useful for quick detection

Specification: thermal sensitivity: 0. 07°C, temperature range: -4 to 572 °F, accuracy: +/- 2 % or +/- 2 °C, weight: 0. 705 ounces, viewing angle: 43° + 1°, Frame rate: 9 Hz

EDIT: looked around for some reference material to 'see' how it compares - just so everyone knows what they are getting.

see Page 31 compares to Seek version of USB cameras.
https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1...2.pdf?3779

look @ the 4th image on this Amazon listing you will see the pixelation difference...and range differences . - this 32x32 will be similar to the 1024 pixel version IR0001.

Anyone actually use this specific model? Amazon positive reviews are so suspect when there are so many negative ones.

Thanks.

Resolution is 32x32 pixels. Probably works fine, you're just getting a very low-res result. Probably good for basic stuff like finding hot spots in an electric panel or air leaks in doors, etc., but don't expect it to be able to easily find which part is hot on a PCB or take anything that looks like a decent IR photograph of someone.

that is about what I expected..

one more note: Android phone needs to support usb-OTG [USB On-The-Go]

EDITED main post to show some comparisons..

Cry once and spend $144 for the Seek Thermal Compact with 206x156 resolution and -40-626ºF range, it's a much better product. 32x32 is all but useless.

This isn't much better than a $10 IR laser thermometer in practice

I don't understand why somebody would buy this over the FLIR camera that is/was on sale for $150. Not only is that a better device, but it also has a much better resale value.

I agree, I have an original seek and it's quite usable, but I would like more resolution. Skip this, you will be disappointed.

This product below is far more worthwhile. Yes its more expensive, but if you do something related to insulating your home, do it right!

This seems pretty janky for well over one half of the current FLIR and Seek deals. If this was $40 I might give it a go.

This is significantly better resolution than the FLIR One at $5 less.

So can I use this to find out when women are aroused?

I doubt you'll need a device for that. Women who are in your vicinity are not aroused. I saved you $90

Spend less time (And significantly less money) on SD and all would be VERY clear to you in no time!
