Your Money or Your Life: 9 Steps to Transforming Your Relationship with Money and Achieving Financial Independence: Fully Revised and Updated for 2018

A fully revised edition of one of the most influential books ever written on personal finance with more than a million copies sold

"The best book on money. Period." –Grant Sabatier, founder of "Millennial Money," on CNBC Make It

"This is a wonderful book. It can really change your life." -Oprah

For more than twenty-five years, Your Money or Your Life has been considered the go-to book for taking back your life by changing your relationship with money. Hundreds of thousands of people have followed this nine-step program, learning to live more deliberately and meaningfully with Vicki Robin's guidance. This fully revised and updated edition with a foreword by "the Frugal Guru" (New Yorker) Mr. Money Mustache is the ultimate makeover of this bestselling classic, ensuring that its time-tested wisdom applies to people of all ages and covers modern topics like investing in index funds, managing revenue streams like side hustles and freelancing, tracking your finances online, and having difficult conversations about money.

Whether you're just beginning your financial life or heading towards retirement, this book will show you how to:

• Get out of debt and develop savings
• Save money through mindfulness and good habits, rather than strict budgeting
• Declutter your life and live well for less
• Invest your savings and begin creating wealth
• Save the planet while saving money
• …and so much more!

I highly recommend this book. Here's my story: I read (and re-read) this book when I was a teenager and, yes, it changed my life for the better, dramatically so. What's different about this book is that it doesn't treat money as many of us and as many money gurus do, as some abstract currency that is external to your life, but instead helps you reconceptualize money as something for which you have TRADED YOUR LIFE ENERGY. That concept changes the calculus of working and spending considerably. This book also helps make clear that financial independence is not a pipe dream; it is much more within reach than you might imagine, and does not require getting rich quick to achieve. Admitting to the possibility of achieving one's own financial independence also changes the calculus dramatically (most people work and spend as if they'll be working and spending their entire lives...and so they do). Unlike other personal finance books, this book is NOT about how to make a lot of money; it's about changing your relationship with money, and honing in on your values. I can't recommend it enough. Yes, the book is hippy dippy, and a bit outdated, but look past that, because the substance is there. And, yes, after digesting this book in high school, I achieved financial independence in my early 30s. If that's not worth $2, and some hours of reading and reflection, I don't know what is.

I've been following Dave Ramsey stuff for the past 5 years, that combined with this book will change your life.

Dave Ramsey teaches you how to get out of debt and plan for your future.

This book shows you that you don't need as much as you think you need in order to live life the way you want.

Combine both and you have a clear path to success!

The key to financial independence is to save more money than you spend and more importantly, make more money than you need to pay your bills.

These books may help someone with spending problems, but budgeting can't fix disproportionate cost of living/inflation expenses to income...

Marry someone rich.

Exactly. When your expenditures with no debt and very little spending outweigh your income what do you do then? No way out of a situation like thar other than to work 24/7 or rob a bank.
