I dont have DT/AT near me, so I dont have a comparison point. However, Goodyear has free flat repair advertised on their own website, and you can make an appt and specifically choose free flat repair on the drop-down menu.

https://www.goodyearautoservice.c...lat-repair [goodyearautoservice.com]
I did make an appointment but not online. I went straight to Goodyear and they still charged me for flat repair. I will try to ask about their website the next time I have a flat tire. Thanks for the info!

Man, I tried buying a set of tires twice last night and got a 404 error each time on final checkout page. I thought I'd try again in the morning. Didn't realize this ended yesterday.

Regarding valve stems, we had one replaced last January for $70. Two wks ago, another valve had to be replaced for $70. They warranty these for 8yrs or so,, so I asked them how they know if this isn't a valve they've already replaced if I had a tire rotation at Big O, but they couldn't give me an answer. The problem is still unresolved, as my Cadillac still shows "Tire pressure monitoring system"
That light came on in my car as well. This happened about 3 months after replacing the tires. I went back to them for rotation and balance afterwards but mentioned nothing of it. Just hoped they'd reset it or something since I wasn't able to.

Long story short, I took it to the dealer who replaced a couple of those TPMS sensors for about $400 I believe. Just assumed it was that time. Since as you say they last about 8 years.

This is probably what's wrong with yours.

TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system) is a more expensive and complicated type of valve stem that is on all cars 2007 on up. It constantly monitors your tire pressure and sends the info to your car. Each tpms have batteries inside which typically lasts about 7 years. A dead battery is one of the things that causes the TPMS dashlight to come on. When you get a rotation, they don't mess with the tpms.

All the batteries in the 4 tires aren't going to fail at the exact same time. But when one dies, if they're the same age, the others won't be far behind. So while getting new tires, if you know your TPMS are old and about to die, you might as well swap them all out now. It's going to cost more to do it later.
Just a sample: https://www.amazon.com/Schrader-2...B002GYSOZ6

I just bought a set off ebay for $40 for my Accord and had them installed with the new tires. I tip the installer because they need to be programmed.

How much does Sears charge for installation when you buy tires somewhere else? Was it cheaper than DT store? I miss our local Sears auto. They closed over a decade ago before the bankruptcy.
Not sure how much directly, but if you bought them on amazon, it's $17/tire.

I think it's $19 per tire at sears.

I'm not sure if it's the same tires on promotion but they've got another starting tomorrow. https://www.discounttiredirect.co...lash-sale#
