This is one of my favorite Audible deals, and doesn't seem to come up that often.

https://www.audible.com/ep/lto?so...0108209RKP

Offer available from January 13, 2020 at 12:00AM PT to January 31, 2020 at 11:59AM PT. This offer is not available to existing Audible members or customers who have been paid Audible members in the past 30 days. Offer applies only to an Audible annual membership sold by Audible.com. For the first year of your Audible membership, you will be charged the discounted price of $99.50

To be clear, you get 12 credits all at once, and they persist at least for a year (I think you can bank more than 12 but can't remember with this deal).

Note to existing subscribers, hotdogwater indicated that he was able to cancel and then resubscribe with this offer.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

For those who didn't know, Scribd might be an alternative or supplement to Audible. It uses something of a Spotify model for books in that you get access as long as you pay $10/mo. It has a very good selection of audio and e-books, including most new releases, but as you use them, some of the titles will "disappear" until the next billing cycle. It's kind of a dodgy setup, but if you listen to/read many books and you don't have to keep them, it's still a very good value.

Scribd's Android app is pretty good but not as good as Audible's much more flexible/refined app. Same with its e-reader; adequate but not as good as Kindle reader.

As a heavy consumer of books, I now use Scribd as my go-to for e-books and then use Audible when a title isn't available there. Saves me about $20/mo. Also can access sheet music, articles, and other media.

30-day free trial, BTW.

I'm so happy, these audible deals never seem to work for me. I cashed in my last discount credit, cancelled, and immediately got back in under the deal. Awesome!

I did it. I cancelled my $20 deal from November for 3 months. Came back and clicked on the link.
Got the $99 deal. Also, I didn't lose my book count toward the $20 credit if you listen to 3 books by March. Nice,
My net will be $80 for the year.
12 audible books
How do you track book count toward $20 credit?

Audible tracks it. If you click on the audible ad on their site it tells you.
I have one finished and almost done with #2

Unsuccessful with chat here. Worse, it was more like 15-20 minutes wasted because of how slow their agents respond.

Will spend my remaining credits and try the cancellation route.

No, it cannot -- that deal requires a membership beginning December 31st.

It's vaguely possible, although outside of the terms of this promo, that you might be able to do that thing where you start canceling your account and receive this $99 offer as an incentive to continue. THAT might be within the terms of the $20, although I honestly don't know and would hesitate to bet on it. (And honestly, I forget all of the details of how that cancel process goes -- I started myself and then chickened out, since I have 3 months of my yearly sub remaining and that $20 at stake.)
I am trying to understand why it wouldn't stack. The promo specifically says be in a trial or membership BY January 31, 2020, so if I sign up/renew my membership before January 31, why wouldn't it qualify?

I recommend you contact their chat support.

I just renewed my yearly at $99 last week.

I was confused by the price, it said "Special Promotion: $99.50 a year, $149.50 a year thereafter." I asked their support via chat what would happen if I Renew Membership, what rate would I be charged? The Audible support agent pushed through a $99.50 renewal for me.
The wording on the Account page says that I can renew for $99.50 ($149.50) a year thereafter, but the confirmation prior to purchasing says I will be charged $149.50. I chatted with a rep who was clueless and insisted I didn't understand. He said I must use my existing credits and cancel, then use the offer. That is absolutely NOT what the web page says:

Here's what you need to know to get the most out of membership:
Special Promotion: $99.50 a year, $149.50 a year thereafter.
Get 12 credits at once - each good for any priced audiobook.
Keep your audiobooks, even if you cancel.
Save 30% on any additional purchases.
Exchange any audiobooks you don't love.
Pick two free Audible Original titles every month from our curated selections.
Renew membership (button)

Then, on the first confirmation:

Renew membership
You don't have to wait for more credits. Renew your membership anytime and have access to 12 more credits.
With your new batch of credits, you will continue to receive great member benefits and savings:
Cancel | Renew Membership (buttons)

And, the second confirmation, which is:

By clicking here, your Discount Gold Annual membership will be renewed. You will receive 12 more credits and be charged $149.50 (plus any applicable taxes). Your new renewal date is Jan 13, 2021.
Would you like to renew your membership?
Cancel | Confirm (buttons)

Idiot. I guess I'll have to call a live person.

Thanks for this, worked perfectly, didn't want to cancel as I had 4 credits left over from the April deal. In the closing notification it stated that I was charged $149.50 - but only $99.50 posted on my card.
were you doing this in the mobile app or a desktop because right now I can't even see the cost to renew it just asked me if I want to renew

It looks like they've updated the terms of that promotion:

"In order to qualify for the Challenge, you must be in a trial or a membership by January 31, 2020 and continue as an active paying member through March 17, 2020. That's it. You're already enrolled in the Challenge."

That link states you're eligible if you have an active account as of 1/31/20 through 3/17/20. I think the deal stacks.

Correct. Here are the revised T&C's:

"Members who finish 3 distinct titles that are each at least 3 hours long via the Audible app on any mobile device or with your Echo, Kindle, or Fire device between January 1, 2020 and March 3, 2020 will earn a $20 Amazon credit. In order to qualify for the Challenge, you must be in a trial or a membership by January 31, 2020 and continue as an active paying member through March 17, 2020. That's it. You're already enrolled in the Challenge. Go ahead, start listening now!"

I'm just hoping that the total includes books that I've already started, as well as Audible Originals.

Audible is a great company to deal with, I have been with them since they started and wait for this annual special. They extended my membership and I kept the 4 credits that were not yet used. I have never been disappointed by their support and product.

I love Audible, too -- I've had an account since 2001. I'm guessing you called to get this done, since I found chatting to be a complete waste of time.
