Not a great price... I bought the 75Q80R for 2070 (after the 10% back by opening a Best Buy Visa card) + tax, at Best Buy after Xmas.

Even if someone got 10% back at Best Buy on this, after the price match, the 75Q80R office so much more for an extra two hundred and seventy bucks.

People should forget the 70 and wait for the 80 to go on sale again

It's $1799 at Samsung EPP.

Is $1799 a great deal or is it worth holding out a little bit longer for superbowl deal?

I'm still holding out hope the Samsung Q90 series 82" QN82Q90 will come down in price for Super Bowl. Have had my eye on the 82" Q90 since October and best price to date was the Samsung EPP price a few months back for $3500. In hindsight I should have pulled the trigger. A reputable eBay store was selling it for $3349 week before Black Friday. I stalled again buying it thinking it was going to be cheaper come Black Friday/Christmas time. Was I wrong. Lowest price around from big box retailers since has been its usual $4999 or $4500. Fingers crossed it goes on sale for super bowl this weekend or next! I tried GreenToe also and lowest offer I get back is $3816. I'm hopeful for a $3000-$3300 sale range. Especially with the new 2020 models just announced at CES. My gut says I'll need to stick it out and wait until March to get one of these for $3K. We'll see...

What do you think the major differences are?

Big difference between Q70 and Q80 are the Q80 has much better off angle viewing and the screen is much better for helping with glare/reflections/light. More dimming zones. I saw them side by side in Best Buy and Brandsmart and you can easily tell the Q80 is a superior picture. I'm holding out for the Q90 as I really like the one connect box and being able to use the no gap wall mount from Samsung. Q90 has even more local dimming zones.

Q80 has an added layer for better reflection handling and viewing angles. The con is that layer makes for a lower contrast ratio and less deep blacks. Q80 also has more dimming zones for better dark scene picture. The price to performance is better on Q70 if you don't need the better viewing angle. I purchased the 75Q80 from echo and optics on ebay for $1900 which at the time was the same price as the lowest I could find for the 75Q70.
