After trying for years to get an end of season pellet grill to try out from Walmart, Lowes, etc... I finally gave up and found this little guy on Amazon. The cooking area seems about the same as the small ones by all of the other brands, but the length of the barrel seems shorter. Ive heard of Masterbuilt smokers but not so sure about their pellet grills. (UPDATED 150..76) I decided to throw the dice. Even if it only lasts a few years it seems like a good way to try out pellet grills.

They had the Camp Chef DLX on sale at Amazon for 308 bucks which I purchased.

Note there is no smoke tube on this unit.

If I did not have a smoker I be tempted to buy it but they put the pellet and shelf on the wrong side. If you right handed, you prefer to have the shelf on the right and the pellets on the left.

Its 150 bucks...but the real deal breaker other than its a really light smoker is that they only give 1 year warranty. Most smokers are 3 to 5 years.

I saw the unit similar at Sams Club on clearance for 200 bucks. Its pretty thin metal. The lack of a smoke stack really kills the deal. Not because you really need the smoke stack but having on your smoker makes it look cool...and also makes you look cool. And chicks love smoke stacks.

Walmart puts on clearance the Pit Boss for about 150 bucks and now they give 5 year warranty. And the Pit boss is heavy and can grill meats.

I understand the need to get a deal. I think getting a Camp Chef for 308 is a deal and a better designed product.

I dont like to get too cheap on two things. Barbeque Grill and TV. If you food does not cook well you waste time and money and food. And if you TV sucks...you watch it..but in back of your mind you hate it. And I am not talking about buying a 1000 dollar smoker or a 1500 tv. I am just taking about another 100 to 200 to get something you will really like.

You work hard all your life. Get something you like versus something that is cheap right now unless the something you like is on sale.

Looks like a good deal on a new product. I'd be all over this but I'm trying to find a Pit Boss tailgater pellet grill on clearance because it can fold. Otherwise I don't have the space for another smoker.

Just curious... How did you find the information on the price range? Is it a specific website?

I got this exact smoker at an end of season clearance last August at king sooper. Best thing ever. Never had a pellet smoker before. I use this every day. Excellent for a small family. Total game changer if you are new to pellet grills. Doing pizza tonight in mine.

Can someone with experience with this tell me if you'd be able to cook a whole brisket on this?

I have a camp chef dlx pellet smoker little bit bigger than this and easily cooks a perfect brisket and it's literally set it and forget it! Started it 11pm night before Thanksgiving woke up in the morning to butcher paper wrap it than left it on there for most of the day it was absolutely perfect!

Weber is coming out with one soon. I think it it called smokefire. MSRP looks to be $999. It looks nice though with the sear feature built in.
