Very highly recommended.

Every American should read this, painful, but important to understand where we've been so that we understand where we're going.

The Trail of Tears: Cherokee Legacy is a 2006 documentary by Rich-Heape Films. It presents the history of the forcible removal and relocation of Cherokee people from southeastern states of the United States to territories west of the Mississippi River, particularly to the Indian Territory in the future Oklahoma.

HBO made this book into a movie that won a bunch of awards. 6 or 7 Emmys. Only covers a part of the book, but otherwise is pretty close to the story.

Thanks for the reference to the movie. Didn't know that they had made a movie from part of the book and just discovered that it was available in our library (movie title is slightly different from the book). Hopefully this will give me the incentive to finish the ebook which I had downloaded some time ago from a similar deal.
