There is currently no safety concern with modern non-stick. All-Clad's non-stick stuff is made in China and on par with any other non-stick pans you may buy for half the price or cheaper. The warranty does not cover the non-stick coating, so it is a moot point.

If you want to buy All-Clad, you likely are wanting stainless steel items that are tri-ply, and likely because these are heirloom quality pieces that last a lifetime and can be passed on. Stainless steel is not non-stick, but cooks more evenly typically (especially tri-ply). In fact, when using stainless steel, you are wanting stuff to stick. When cooking meats, the pieces that stick to the pan is called "fond" and can be unstuck by deglazing the pan with wine/liquor to make amazing gravies and sauces.

Most people who buy All-Clad have no idea about cooking, but follow the hype and marketing, or just want to show their neighbors all the overpriced cookware they own and never use.

That being said, if you buy anything from All-Clad, make sure it is all-clad. All-clad means the multi-ply pots and pans are clad all the way to the top (rather than just having a copper core bottom of the pot or pan). I spent the money and got a copper core 12" frying pan and copper core 3 quart saucepan (wish I would have bought the 3 quart saucier instead). That is a good start.

People that collect rather than cook with All Clad may buy the stock pots, dutch ovens, miscellaneous pots and pans, etc.

Fact is, stock pots are for cooking stock or other large amounts of liquid for hours, so having tri ply is a waste of money since boiling liquids can be accomplished by a thin metal kettle with no problem (though I would still advise a decent gauge stock pot).

Enamel Dutch ovens are much superior to All Clad.metal tri ply ones.

Also, a carbon steel wok is just as good as the expensive All-Clad ones, and used by professional chefs. A cast iron frying pan/skillet is really useful as well, as not everything is optimally cooked in an All-Clad tri ply skillet. It is also good to have non-stick pans, but realize that EVERY brand's non-stick coating wears off eventually, so don't be a sucker and spend heavily on non-stick.

For all the other miscellaneous pots and pans, I would just stick with the larger ones (how many times have you used a 6" frying pan, or a 1 qt saucepan?), and make sure they are actually tri ply. Otherwise, you are blowing money on mediocre items just for the All-Clad stamp on it. Also, most stuff that isn't tri ply from All Clad is Chinese. Be sure to read the descriptions, as those have limited lifetime warranties and are crappier quality.

I am looking at the anodized nonstick set. I realize this is China made but I need some decent pans to keep my wife away from my good stuff. Would these be a good fit for $60 or is there a better set available for the price?

If she leaves my stainless or Le Cresuet in the sink dirty again I may have to leave her.

It's a shame when a company asks for e-mail just to look at their products.

Use barkeeper's friend cleaner on the stainless. Looks like new afterward.
